These test leads / test probes are used for connecting compatible multimeters to electrical testing applications and are intended for general use.  DMM Test Leads should be inspected, and/or replaced when meter readings become unstable.

To test your multimeter leads simply select the ohms range on your Multimeter.  Insert the banana ends into the multimeter (red into red + positive, and black into black – negative).  Touch, short, the probe tips together.  The meter should read 0.00.  If the meter reads anything other than zero, or the zero reading becomes unstable when the meter leads are moved around while still shorted, then consider replacing the test leads.  Faulty test leads will compromise the meter’s readings, and desired accuracy.
